Professor Andrew Markus (Monash University) will be presenting findings of his latest report, Mapping Social Cohesion 2017, to the Albury-Wodonga community. A free public presentation will be held at La Trobe Universities’ main lecture theatre on Tuesday January 30 from 1pm. Professor Markus will share insights about the balance of Australian opinion towards multiculturalism and the common factors that enhance (or erode) community harmony and cohesion.
Professor Markus is the Pratt Foundation Research Professor of Jewish Civilisation in the School of Historical, International and Philosophical Studies, Monash University, and a Fellow of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia. He has published extensively in the field of Australian indigenous and immigration history and has authored the Scanlon Foundation’s social cohesion reports since 2007. The presentation will include a Q&A session and afternoon tea.
This is an event of the Albury-Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council, with support from the Scanlon foundation, Border Trust and La Trobe University.
