Opportunities to make a difference!!

Call for Expression of Interest

Albury-Wodonga Ethnic Communities Council (AWECC) is the peak multicultural organisation for the Albury (NSW) and Wodonga (VIC) region.  Established in 2014, AWECC’s aim is to make multiculturalism work by building the capacity of communities to promote and enhance the benefits of multiculturalism in the region.

AWECC is a not-for-profit charity organisation, governed by a volunteer board.  Its primary activity is to act as an advocacy and representative body for local ethnic communities and our members.

Due to solid growth in the organisation and several major projects planned for the coming days, we are seeking expressions of interests from individuals who are keen on making a positive impact with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) community members for the following positions:

Community Engagement Officers (Immediate start and talent pool)

This role requires a genuine interest in and knowledge of the issues affecting the CALD community living in Albury-Wodonga and surrounding Local Government Areas in the Ovens Murray Region. A strong understanding of the different CALD communities and the ability to run community consultations, and flexibly deliver capacity building initiatives especially in the areas of health, emergency preparedness, families, and youth empowerment will be considered. These roles require a commitment of at least 2-3 days for an initial period of 6 months with regular travels within the region.

Bi-lingual support workers (On-going)

We are seeking Bilingual support workers who are fluent in both English and Nepali/Swahili/ Vietnamese/ Hindi to be engaged on a casual basis when need arises.

Driver-Learner Volunteers (Immediate and on-going)

We are seeking volunteers who are willing to support CALD community members to learn driving. Ideally, the volunteers will help community members practice their driving after initial lessons from qualified Driver Instructors. Volunteers from the CALD background are encouraged to apply.
